1007 - Early Worcester mug in Crescent Moon patttern, c 1754
The mug is 12cms high and 8cms in diameter at the top. The base is 9.5 cms wide with a shallow footrim and there is a painter’s mark.
The handle is of strap form with a stress crack across it but the handle has not been off. There is also a filled chip on the rim associated with a long curving hairline. The base has a Simon Spero collection label.
The rare Crescent Moon pattern (I.B.4) is dated by Branyan French and Sandon from 1751-54.
