1086 - An agateware double handled sauceboat c 1750
Modelled in a double handles silver shape with finely mixed coloured clays. 18.5 cms long. See this fascinating film of how agateware was made.
One handle has been replaced and although there are no visible cracks the body does not ring.
Provenance: The Rockwell Collection and the Jonathan Horne stock sales. Illustrated in my book, British Porcelain Sauceboats of the 18th Century, Figure 32.
